Matthew Young founded Youngsville, Pennsylvania. It began as a 400 acre tract of land beside the Brokenstraw Creek. The town was incorporated in... Matthew Young was a Revolutionary War Veteran and school master. Not only did he lay the downtown streets while he settled the town, but he built a sawmill and the first school in Youngsville.

He first came to the area to visit Callender Irvine who was the son of Revolutionary War General William Irvine.

Matthew Young died on August 4, 1825. His body is buried in the Youngsville Cemetery.
